In order to be street legal, a golf car must be a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV), with a maximum speed in the range of 20 to 25 MPH. LSVs can be operated on any public roads where the speed limit is 35 MPH or less, and may be driven on cross streets where the speed limit is 55 MPH or less.
Before a golf cart can be titled as an LSV it must have a windshield, wiper blades, headlights, tail lights, reflectors, license plate, high speed motor, license plate lights, and a slow moving vehicle hazard reflector.
